Koura
Terms of service
Last updated October 9, 2026.
The service
Koura is a service run by Wyatt McAvoy that sends text messages and emails on behalf of an organization, asks the people it contacts for updates, and records their replies for that organization. Koura does not contact anyone on its own initiative. Each message is sent for an organization that chose the people to contact and approved the message.
Text messaging program
Koura Alumni Outreach sends short text messages asking for alumni updates, such as a person's role, company, or hiring needs, on behalf of the organization that invited you. Message frequency varies, up to 5 messages per outreach. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help; our help reply includes a contact email. Consent to receive these messages is not a condition of any purchase. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Text messages
- Messages are sent from a US phone number, and the content and frequency are set by the organization that started the outreach.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Reply HELP for help, or STOP to stop all automated messages. A STOP reply is honored, and no further automated messages are sent to that number through that organization.
Who may use the service
Organizations use Koura to contact people who have a relationship with them, such as alumni, founders, or members. You may not use Koura to send unsolicited messages, to send anything unlawful, or to contact people who have asked not to be contacted.
Your responsibilities as an organization
An organization using Koura is responsible for having a lawful basis to contact each person, for the content of the messages it approves, and for responding to requests from the people it contacts. Staff stay responsible for their relationships and decisions. Koura gathers updates and flags when staff should act.
Accuracy and decisions
Answers recorded by Koura come from what people reply, and AI-assisted reading can misread a reply. Staff should check important information before acting on it.
Limits
The service is provided as it is, without guarantees that every message will be delivered, since delivery depends on mobile carriers and other providers. We are not liable for indirect losses arising from use of the service.
Privacy
How we handle personal information is described in our privacy policy.
