Koura
Privacy policy
Last updated October 9, 2026.
Who we are
Koura helps organizations keep their alumni, founder, and member networks up to date. Koura is operated by Wyatt McAvoy. An organization that uses Koura (the "organization") decides which people are contacted and what is asked. Koura sends the messages on the organization's behalf and records the replies for the organization's staff.
What we collect
- Names, phone numbers, email addresses, company, and cohort or year, as the organization provides them.
- The text messages and emails sent to you, and the replies you send back.
- Answers to the questions the organization asked, and any quote, photo, or video you choose to share.
- Technical records needed to run the service, such as delivery status from our messaging provider.
How we use it
- To send the update requests the organization approved, and to follow up within the limits it set.
- To read your replies and record your answers for the organization's staff, who decide what happens next.
- To produce reports and exports for the organization.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who processes it
To run Koura, your information passes through these service providers:
- Twilio, which sends and receives text messages.
- Resend, which sends emails.
- Supabase, which stores the data in a database.
- Vercel, which hosts the website.
- Inngest, which runs the background steps that process replies.
- Anthropic, whose AI model reads replies to pull out the answers the organization asked for.
Mobile numbers and text messages
Mobile phone numbers and the information about them are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text message subscriber opt-in and consent information is not shared with any third parties.
Message frequency varies by the organization's program, and is set by the organization. Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier's standard rates still apply to messages you send and receive.
Stopping messages
Reply STOP to any text to stop all automated messages from Koura to that number. We record the request and do not contact that number again through that organization. Reply HELP for help.
Sharing
Replies are shared only with the organization that contacted you and the staff it authorizes. A quote, photo, or video is shown publicly only if you explicitly agree to it. You can withdraw that agreement at any time, and we will remove it from public pages.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as the organization needs it for its outreach and reports. You can ask us to delete it sooner, as described below.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. Reply STOP to stop messages at any time. To make any other request, contact us at the address below.
